Puppy Power: National Puppy Day

With all the strife in the world today, and more in certain parts of the world, we wanted to bring some levity to the day and celebrate National Puppy Day. As such, we would like to introduce our newest office pup, aka trainee, named Hugo to our Advanced Detection Technology family of customers, suppliers and resellers around the world.

Hugo was named after the brand “Hugo Boss,” and is a stylish pup touting German Wirehaired Pointer heritage. Hugo joined the team just about a month or two ago after an intense, multi-panel interview. With some office “shadowing,” he has not only learned how to navigate between offices, but to also stay close to his human dad. He’s growing into his body and loves to chew on everything.

Hugo is learning to socialize and is no longer timid around new people. He’s inquisitive and wants to please, but also wants to see how far you’ll chase him to play ball or frisbee in the open office area in the center of the building.

Hugo can sniff out food – or anything that resembles food – and will give you his full puppy attention for these special rewards. Savoring the food versus just swallowing seems to be taking more time to acquire. However, little by little, he’s learning tone of voice, critical commands and body language.

Visitors to the office can make an appointment with Hugo. However, note that his calendar fills up fast since he’s busy managing CEO Jan Zickerman’s time and activities closely. (Spoiler alert: Hugo is not the best at time management since he does not have a calendar and considers every minute to be seven). Jan has big plans for Hugo that entail developing a long-term relationship, only accepting treats on time and within budget, and providing staff and visitors a stress-free environment with his downward dog poses. Admittedly, it may take some time for Hugo to figure out the importance of under vehicle inspection systems and artificial intelligence. But that will come soon enough.

Founded in 2006 by author Colleen Paige, National Puppy Day focuses on puppies in need of adoption and celebrates these furry little companions. However, not to fret if you have a dog or cat, or favor wildlife, since there’s a National Mutt Day, National Cat Day, National Wildlife Day and many more philanthropic days to bring attention to the plight of animals around the globe and encourage adoption. At this time in particular, we salute all those kind-hearted souls who are helping to save the animals in the Ukraine.

From the many pet lovers at Advanced Detection Technology, happy National Puppy Day!
